PostSubject: A tree and Irish coffee   A tree and Irish coffee Icon_minitimeMon Sep 09, 2013 10:02 pm

Oriel had a flight landing in Sydney early in the morning, she wasn't sure what brought her here perhaps it was just her curiosity in seeing how the southern hemisphere was going. On arrival she saw that everything in this city seemed fine. There was nothing standing out that was terrible.

Once through customs she set up in a hotel and had a quick snooze. She woke up around mid-day, after chilling out for a bit she decided she'd go check out what's in town.

Strolling along in a pair of black mini shorts, a turquoise T-shirt and the usual pair of red chuck taylors Oriel would nearly look like one of the locals, if it weren't for her light skin. It seemed as though everyone around her was super tanned.

The girl went into a cafe and bought herself a takeaway latte, she had the time to sit in and drink it but what she would do to her coffee would have been a bit inappropriate at a cafe. Oriel walked to the nearest park drinking a bit of her coffee and found herself a tree to sit under, it didn't make much change in the fact that it was so hot.

She opened the lid of her coffee and grabbed a small flask from her satchel, she poured in a bit of whiskey then put the lid away. Taking another sip at her irish coffee she looked around the park, everything seemed normal and quite chill. The girl lent her back against the tree, it was nice to relax in Australia.

Jet lag was ever prominent and his consistent battle against it was more tedious than the war between the Humans and the Amarans that he chose to delegate. He was more concerned with protecting the Earth but obviously life in general was worth protecting for those who had the power. He didn't consider himself a hero and was willing to kill if the necessity came up but it was always tedious to try to be something greater than you were. He wasn't the type to bring himself from not helping someone when he had the opportunity to.

Having recently come from Hawaii and dealing with a white haired hooligan who had the ability to travel instantaneously he was unsure how to go about changing his clothing. Having a tie dyed shirt and same cargo shorts he figured all he really needed to change was his shoes. Then again, he didn't want to wear the same clothes in general. He was tired of it and decided to just get some plain white teas and some basketball type shorts in order to relax. It was hot out and physical activity might occur.

Having left a café about a half an hour back he had found himself to a homely little park where he relaxed. Climbing a tree to look out at the land he noticed the people come and go and relished in the peace of it all. As time passed a rather pale female came and sat under the tree and poured fluid from a flask, presumably alcohol, into the drink that was likely from the café he had been to. "Are we allowed to drink publicly here?" He asked, letting her know he wasn't a native of this area.

Hearing a voice Oriel looked around her at first then above her. There was a guy in the tree she was sitting under and she didn't even notice. It became apparent that he wasn't from Sydney either, Oriel could only assume that it wasn't okay to drink publicly just like any other city she had been in. Coming to grips that she was about to have a conversation with a guy in a tree she replied,

"Probably not. I'm not from around here so I wouldn't know, but I've heard that this country is pretty strict on alcohol consumption."

She continued drinking her coffee, she wasn't sure if it was the latte or whiskey that she liked better. It would be about time the question would arise,

"What are you doing in the tree? Are you some kind of hippy?"

"No, just a little nuts." He said, making a very bad joke. Hopping down from the tree and landing lightly on his feet he took a seat next to her and then complimented her hair with a facial expression and hand gesture before explaining, "Jet lag is killer. Only way to avoid it through activity." He rest his head on the tree and then closed his eyes. "It's much too easy to fall asleep in the serenity of the area." Picking his head back up and opening his blue eyes he would glance around before looking back at the female and said, "Well, since we're both new maybe we could get acquainted?"

He was all about the foreign experience and that jazz. It was nice to make a friend in a place where strangers lurked about. Especially with all the accents he wasn't familiar with. Despite hearing of their access and the false stereotypes of excessive 'mates' it wasn't as popular as it was made out to be. Her european accent, however, was something he heard quite a bit due to series he had watched on the internet. Even so, it wasn't as bad as some of the chav accents that most Americans seemed to mimic. That was a stereotype that hadn't been in his head though.

"Ha" was her response to his joke, surely he was joking he didn't seem nuts. She had never thought of doing activity to get over jet lag, she just slept for hours and hopefully that would get her back to normal.

Oriel was kind of glad she could bump into someone to talk to who wasn't Australian, it wasn't that she didn't like them, she just wouldn't be able to handle their accent for too long. The girl smiled at him before speaking again,

"Yeah sure, funny two foreigners would meet like this. I'm Oriel, nice to meet you-"

She spoke giving him the chance to finish her sentence with his name. She sipped at her coffee some more, it was half full now.

"Neptune." He finished, not revealing his former identity. If this was pursued he had his alibi and wouldn't think of it too much. He had to take this identity seriously and had honestly gotten pretty used to being called that after extensive use in the field and the allies that he had met that only recognized him as this name. It was odd how habits were formed and how difficult they were to kick. It was why he couldn't resist himself from immediately turning to hear the scream that came from inside the café that they had both ended up visiting. It was definitely a walk away but the scream seemed urgent enough and he was unsure how she would react to this.

Hesitating from instinctively moving, the little jolt of him about to get up obviously being held back as he was somewhat leaning into the movement, he would look back to her and see if she didn't mind if he went. I don't mean to cut this short but..." He trailed off, speaking of responsibilities that he had to uphold. It was awkward. Neptune usually wasn't cut short during interactions but it seemed fate did not hold him in his favor today. It was pretty unfortunate, she was kinda cute. He didn't expect to do anything with her but it was nice to have something to look at that could talk back instead of the constant Amarans that he fought.

Oriel instantly looked over to where the scream came from, it was the cafe that she had got her cafe from. If there was something wrong Oriel wouldn't be too happy, the barista there was quite good at making coffees. However more importantly she would seek out any Araman's as she was here to see if this part of the southern hemisphere was okay.

She looked at Neptune, he was already in the movement to check out what was going on in there. Oriel wasn't sure if it would be human's causing trouble or Araman so she got up too, ready to dash over there.

"Doesn't have to be cut short I'd like to check it out."

The girl wouldn't reveal she was ex-army just because in some people it could trigger untrust. It was just aswell she brought a satchel with her today which contained her wallet, the flask and Vengeance. She quickly drank as much coffee as she could and headed over to the cafe.

As she gave consent and an offer to join Neptune he didn't hesitate and followed. He didn't want to reveal his power just yet and if he ran at full speed he would definitely give that away, however, if the situation called for it he wouldn't hesitate to save a civilian opposed to keeping the secrecy. As they would arrive there would be a gang of Amarans that were seemingly free of military control as they acted brutish and more like the thugs that Neptune had experienced in his hometown opposed to those who were enacting military orders. "Excuse me." He said, not wanting to sound rude to the female who accompanied him. Walking up to the group leader the beast was a good 2 feet taller and bulkier to an extreme than the human in front of him.

As it spoke in some distorted language to its comrades that normal humans wouldn't understand Neptune laughed. As the laughter was cut shorter the pig nosed, scaled, creature immediately turned to him and looked with its demonic eyes and leaned down and questioned whether or not he could understand them. Neptune nodded. As he leaned back and began laughing hysterically the boss turned around and began walking away as the rest of the thugs were given the orders to slaughter him. Cracking his neck before getting started a few punches were thrown his way he activated Outsource in order to access his mana halving ability from one of his forms. With this he made his expenses much more affordable as he shifted through their attack because of their spell and charged towards the boss while his back was still turned. As he now activated Shiya's Gift and borrowed some of the drinks of the café they would form around his hand and then solidify into a blade of ice as he pierced through the back and into the heart of the creature before pulling out.

There was no need to go through the chest and make it more difficult to rip out as he turned around to see three goons of his surprised and shock of how he single handled took out the leader who was now on the ground in a pool of blood. The people surrounding were silent. They didn't wish to cheer until they were all defeated otherwise they would've been taxed more. As one of the creatures began to yell some profuse and distorted sounds he replied, "Bring it." His clothing began to form into Triton's Apparel and a helmet grew onto his head as his face was covered through this emotionless and faceless masked.  He would make quick work of them.

Oriel stood back for a bit as Neptune approached the gang of Araman's. She was kind of shocked as Neptune made a clean fool of the leader, it was in the army where Oriel had learnt to understand their distorted languages, she quickly turned to the civilians who were able to leave the cafe and beckoned for them to leave, pulling the dog tags off of her neck and showing it to citizens,

"It's okay you're in good hands, get away from here we can deal to this."

As a few of them left Oriel turned around once more to see Neptune obtain some sort of armor suit, it seemed nearly like a tight motorcyclist's outfit. A sly smile streaked across her face as three of the creatures came at Neptune, it was just plain unfair. By this moment Oriel had realized that Neptune could handle a lot himself however she just had to get involved.

Reaching into her satchel she grabbed out her pistol as she stepped onto a table and jumping up to avoid Neptune getting into her aiming site. She shot two of the creatures right between the eyes causing them to fall backwards to hit the ground. It was important to keep the killing as clean as possible. Oriel landed back on the ground next to her accomplice. She left the last one for Neptune, sure he would be able to deal to it, if not, she had his back.

As she joined the mix he was surprised. Sure, she was able to clear out the area and that made sense due to the dogtags that she had shown. The power she had was something that wasn't expected. Weaponry like that was only powerful in the hands of those strong enough to use it and it was clear that she had the magic affinity for it. Neptune hadn't used /that/ ability since...whatever. He wasn't going to use it. Not yet anyway, there was still too much trauma in it for him to deal with and he wasn't sure how he was going to bring himself to use it again despite its usefulness.

As the third thug decided to run away knowing that it was outclassed he motioned his hand to her and would let her shoot him. It would be cleaner this way and less hectic towards the environment if he didn't chase him down and accidentally break part of the tar on the road. Either that or rip out the sewage systems with his water bending. Honestly, he didn't look all that spectacular only efficient and he was glad that he didn't have to go overboard like with that white haired menace.

As his clothing retracted into his body and he returned the drinks to the rightful people he said, "So, that was interesting." He was unsure how she would take him being able to do that. He he didn't have documented military training since all of his records were destroyed and he was just some civilian that had accomplished that. Perhaps she wouldn't think much of it but even if she didn't the citizens probably would. The way acted in the situation was a bit more aggressive than usual and he wondered why that was coaxed out of him by the brute.

As the last one decided to run away she looked at Neptune seeing if he wanted to take the kill, however he beckoned her to do so, the bullets would have been much more clean and less alarming to the public than his magical ability. With that she aimed for the back of the creature's head and just like that, BANG and the last one down. There would surely be a following of praise from the civilians around them along with someone of importance in this city showing up soon.

She was unsure whether the people would want to continue at their drinks after that whole fiasco but it was cleaner than Neptune dropping the liquids to the floor. She watched as his suit retracted back into his skin, she had never seen anything like it, maybe the American's were ahead after all.

"It uhh.. Sure was.. I've never seen someone with a suit or magical affinity like that before."

Oriel paused, placing her gun back into her satchel and grabbing out her flask taking a quick swig at her whiskey. The alcohol made herself think she could deal with this sort of stuff.

"Should we get out of here before the feds and media arrive?"

She wasn't sure what Australians did when this sort of stuff happened but she sure didn't want her face on TV. With the way Neptune acted she was sure he wouldn't either.

As the bullet finished off the last of them the praise was a bit embarrassing considering most of the time things weren't that clean. He hadn't really dealt with a small group that had been easily handled in a while. It was either a specific individual of massive power or a group of creatures that would wreak havoc across the town with more numbers than were available to the mage.

"Yeah, let's get out of here. We can talk about it later." He said, taking priority of the situation and leading her to where he was staying. It didn't matter as long as they were behind closed walls until everything calmed down. If they wanted they could explore during the night. It was likely that the hoodlums both Human and Amaran alike were traversing the town and mingling with those who partied and left the clubs drunk and ripe for the picking. As they would come across the hotel he was at he would walk in and go to the appropriate floor, open the door and offer her a place to sit whether a chair, the bed or whatever. He'd take whatever she didn't out of courtesy.

"So, yeah." He continued, unsure where they left off.

Hearing sirens as they walked into the building he was staying in Oriel let out a sigh of relief. If anything they'd have to clean up the mess and deal with the media. There were witnesses that saw the two but they wouldn't be going out in public for a few hours.

As Neptune offered up a seat Oriel sat her self down on one of the sofas. She placed her bag on the ground and relaxed into the couch despite what had just happened in the cafe. The two were to carry on where they left off, Neptune would know in where Oriel had learned how to shoot like that after she got people to flee the place by showing her dog tags.

"That was interesting.. Where did all that come from if you don't mind me asking?"

She thankfully respected the boundary of where he rested as he kicked off his shoes at the entrance and hopped onto the bed and laid down. Staring at the ceiling he didn't care for how she would handle herself in the house, she seemed trustworthy enough. There was a certain bond built through combat that normal people wouldn't understand. Being able to innately trust someone with your life is definitely a heavy gesture, especially when it is a stranger and considering her contribution without hesitance she was at least able to be trusted to watch his back.

"Sure," He began, before reconsidering her question and then realizing he wasn't particularly sure what she meant. Not wanting to seem dumbfounded he continued with the slight pause as if intentional and continue, "but what do you mean by 'all that'." He asked.

She would never just jump onto someones bed, that would just be rude. She had been forced to learn a lot manners back in school. She figured she should have explained better when he asked what she meant when she asked where all that had come from.

"I guess, I mean.. Where did the suit and magic come from? Did you serve in the army or something?"

She asked, she was very curious. Oriel wouldn't go back and tell anyone about this guy but it seemed kind of strange to her, she just thought he was some casual dude up in the trees at first.

"When the Amarans came they polluted the Earth with magic. It's what gives humans their super natural abilities. We've been popping up all over the world at varying degrees of strength." He explained in regards to him having an affinity for magic in the first place. He didn't want to reveal too much of his history and secrecy was best kept when you didn't seem as if though you've been hiding things. "The suit is similar to your gun. Your gun works against the higher class Amarans effectively unlike normal weaponry. You knew that right? Anyway, those guys we fought wouldn't have been killed by normal weaponry or it would've been done already. I, similarly, made the black suit in order to help me conceal my identity while also providing certain in battle advantages."

Oriel recalled the past, where it took her and all of her team to take down just a single one of the creatures with the standard army weaponry, her gun like his suit was special. The girl noticed him saying that he used the suit to conceal his identity, she wouldn't ask into it, that would just be silly after he said he wanted to conceal it. Oriel could only assume there was something in his past that he would never really want to talk about.

The girl nodded once he had explained, things were a lot clearer to her now explaining why her gun and katanas could lay into the creatures she faced like they did.

"I guess that makes sense."

She paused, grabbing her gun out to take another look at it then placing it back into her satchel. Oriel had a little shake of her flask, there was only half left in there. Damn. She'd have to go buy more and it was so expensive in this country to buy alcohol where as cigarettes were cheap, should be the other way round.

"Have any idea how long it'll be til we can go back out into the public? Someone could be looking for us.."

"It's probably best that we wait until the night." He explained once again. "The reporters wouldn't want to be out for that long." He said, noting that the reporters were just normal humans and if they weren't then they might've had an issue. The only people that would be out at the time they could leave would be those partying or causing trouble. Either of which were no legitimate threat to the two of them considering their abilities.

He got off the bed and move on to one of the other couches. The bed was making him tired and it was best to not try to fall asleep when there was a guest in the house. Not to mention he would have lost the battle against jet lag which was something he didn't particularly wish to do. "So, what do you wanna do until then?" He asked. There wasn't much to do in this room considering it was very plain. Neptune hadn't even unpacked yet

Oriel sighed, she was never a fan of the media. If the two were found they'd be put on TV as heroes or something which Oriel could never see herself as. She just wanted to keep her people safe.

The girl looked around the room, it was pretty plain. She didn't really know what to do in a hotel room other than hit the mini bar. She still had a little bit of whiskey, maybe he would want a drink with her.

"Well.. do you drink?"

She pulled out her flask offering him some whiskey.

"I'm sure they'll have coke in the mini bar but I prefer it on the rocks.. That is if you don't mind me drinking here?"

It would soon become apparent should they start drinking that Oriel had grown quite the tolerance to alcohol as it seemed as though she had been drinking all day.

"I don't usually drink," He said, not having had access to alcohol most of his life due to his financial status. His mother couldn't particularly afford it and by the time he was in the military he had only drank a handful of times. "but I'll make an exception." He finished, taking her up on her offer. Taking some of the whiskey he remembered why he didn't drink. The taste of alcohol was disgusting but he did enjoy how it felt to be drunk so he always pushed through it. It wasn't bad enough to actually have an impact on his facial expression it was just an annoyance in the back of his head. "Take the lead." He said, in regards to the situation. It was obvious that she would be the one to have more experience in this department based on her offer and how she had been drinking from the flask since he had seen her.

"Excellent."

With that Oriel was quick to move. It had been so long since she had drank with someone, she would always be alone. After taking a quick swig at her flask she stood up and walked into the kitchen area. She grabbed two glasses from a cupboard and found a tray of ice cubes in the freezer. Putting the ice cubes in the cups she poured the same amount of whiskey into each glass then quickly grabbed a bottle of coke from the fridge. It would appear on his bill but Oriel would pay for that.

"I'll pay for that."

She said as she filled the rest of the glasses up with cola making them a much more tastier drink than just straight whiskey taking in that he said he didn't drink much. She grabbed the two glasses and moved back to the couch placing Neptune's glass on the table.

"I figured this would taste nicer"

Oriel took a sip at her drink, it was the perfect temperature, the fizz hit the back of her throat then the small bite of alcohol following.

"Do you travel often?"

She asked attempting to make casual conversation.

As she brought out some coke he cared not for the price due to having all of his expenses paid for. However, she offered to pay and he would segway back into it when she would ask if he traveled often. Taking the drink simultaneously with her he didn't particularly enjoy it due to hating soda more than alcohol but he wouldn't be rude about it. "Yeah, I travel often. All expenses paid too. So, no worries on paying for anything, all right?" After clarifying that bit he would ask, "What about yourself?"

"Sure thing."

She said in reply to the paying for stuff. The girl would probably buy something later for the two anyway, just because she was like that.

"Yeah I guess so, I've just started traveling lots recently though. I usually just keep to European countries though. Thought I'd just come down here to see how the Southern Hemisphere was doing in amongst this war.."

War, she hated to remind herself that that was the current state of the world against the Amaranth. It could be a part of the reason she drank so much but that was still a lie. The girl pondered to herself for a bit before clicking back to reality.

"Do you like it here so far?"

"I guess. It's a lot like the rest of the world. Maybe a little nicer." He responded. "I went to this one country in Asia -- for the life of my I can't remember which -- but it was completely run by the Amaran. Y'see, I had flown into a human territory and traveled the rest of the way there to see if it was true..." He voiced faded. He would have taken a sip from his glass, or well a noticeably large chug. He always thought those were sips but other people told him differently. Not wanting to speak on that that adventure he would deviate it from a bit. "Anything is nice compared to that trip." Yet again taking another sip he suppose he felt the buzz, the glass now being almost empty because of his excessive chugs. He was a lightweight still and it wasn't something he was ashamed of, it just meant he could get drunk for less money.

Oriel looked down to her glass drinking from it at the same pace she would always drink - fast. Having a high tolerance would mean drinking slow would get her no where. By the time Neptune had stopped talking her glass was nearly empty. The fizz made it a bit harder for her to drink at her normal rate. She listened intently hearing how a part of Asia was now completely overrun by the Amaran, it bugged her a bit.

"I don't understand what they want with us and our world."

She said, afterwards taking a last gulp of her drink looking at the ice in her glass she would be quick to change the subject to avoid getting to deep into that sort of stuff. She didn't enjoy talking about it when she could just start feeling a buzz after drinking all day.

"Huh, that was quick to finish."

She said as if she didn't drink that fast normally. Placing her glass on the table she poured more whiskey into it, screw the coke, on the rocks was the way to do it. She placed the flask on the table gesturing for Neptune to pour himself one if he had finished too, coke would be on the bench if he wanted it.
